End of Week 1 – kitchen reno
One week down. God knows how many more. Since I last posted, we have new plywood floors – goodbye mysterious holes to the basement. We also have a patchwork of drywall, all taped. The plan is to sand, prime and paint on Monday. Right now, we are thinking the ceiling and side walls need Cloud White. Definitely want a section of chalkboard paint.

So this kitchen renovation started with some planning – we had a general sense of our layout, booked time with respective trades but haven’t, for example, gone backsplash hunting. We only picked our floors after the demo and therefore have had to wait a week to have them delivered. Not necessarily a bad thing since we have to do painting and get the gas line installed.
We are fooling around with the Ikea kitchen planning tool and will post pics of the tentative layout. Cabinet assembly is scheduled for next weekend so we still have time to think – crossing fingers our cabinets are in stock!
I don’t envy you guys. We have gone through several renos in our lifetime and non of them have been fun!!
so far its not been too bad but i am getting impatient. the rest of the house is quite the mess so can’t wait to be done!
